August 9-14 || Schroon Lake, NY || Grades 6-12

SLBC's Youth Group is SO excited for another year at Word of Life Camp. Last year, we took 14 students who all had a great week of fun, building friendships, and experiencing God word in their lives. Our goal this year is to take 25 students with us - all at a low cost. This page is your go-to for any and all things camp this year!

WHAT IS CAMP LIKE?

FUN

Word of Life doesn't hold back when it comes to fun! There are sports tournaments, food challenges, water slides, mud pits, and everything in between. This isn't your old granny's camp - the fun is next level!

FRIENDS

One of the things that makes camp so great is the friendships. Camp is a chance to deepen friendships between students in our youth group, but also to make new friends! Some of our students are still in touch with friends they made at camp last year!

FAITH

Most importantly, our students will be challenged to grow in their faith all week long. Word of Life brings in world-class speakers, has excellent praise music, and top-notch counselors - all to help teens know the Lord better.

FAQ'S

What are the dates for camp? And when is drop off/pick up?
The dates for camp are August 9-14th.

Drop off/pickup details coming soon!
Should my camper bring spending money?
Campers will be issued a Camper Bank Card on which to store any spending money for the week. To avoid loss and theft, campers are strongly discouraged from carrying cash.
The amount of spending money is up to individual family preference.

Campers can request their remaining balance at every transaction and may check their balance at any time at any sales point. Counselors are available to assist younger campers who are not accustomed to cashless spending.

Parents may check the balance on their camper’s Bank Card and may reload it from home by calling the Camp Office. If Camper Bank Cards are lost or stolen, a replacement card will be issued with whatever the remaining balance was on the card at the point it was reported missing. Word of Life is not responsible for any money not deposited onto a Camper Bank Card.

Campers and parents have 2 options regarding any money still remaining on the Camper Bank Card at the end of a camper’s stay. They may . . .
1. Donate the balance to our Summer Missions Project*
2. Cash out the card on the morning of their departure.
*Any balance under $5 will be donated unless a cashout is requested.
Will there be transportation to/from camp?
Yes - but seating is limited!

You are more than welcome to transport your child to/from camp for check-in and drop off. It definitely is worth the drive to experience the camp properties for yourself - they’re amazing!

If your child needs transportation to/from camp, please contact Pastor Jacob @ 2074462768 ASAP so we can plan to have enough seats/luggage space.
Can my child have their cell phone at camp?
Short answer - no.

However, we know it is important to you to have updates on your children throughout the week - which is why we have created a group chat through "WhatsApp" where our youth leaders will send regular updates through the week along with pictures and videos of what your camper is experiencing.

Does camp accommodate for food allergies?
From WOL: “Specialty concerns or food allergies are always accommodated when advance notice is given prior to arrival.”
What if my child gets hurt or has medical needs while at camp?
From WOL:

“A round-the-clock Health Center on camp property is staffed and stocked for both emergencies and routine health care. Two full-time registered nurses run the Health Center with the support of two or three additional registered nurses to ensure health care is always available.

Staff members who have completed the Red Cross Responding to Emergency Certification are available to provide first aid around the property, and staff serving in special activity areas are trained and certified in their respective areas.”

**Extra note from Pastor Jacob: Things like emergency inhalers/epipens are able to kept with the camper or their counselor at all times. Other medications are stored at the health center at camp and students will be brought their by their counselor to take their meds at the appropriate times.**
Is my child safe at camp?
Absolutely. Word of Life has a very thorough Child Protection Policy that not only meets New York State's rigorous stipulations, but goes above and beyond to ensure safety for every camper. Every staff member at camp attends safety trainings and is bound by strict conduct requirements.

Additionally, each camp property has their own security team, and no one is allowed on or off property without being checked in first.
Can I visit my child at camp?
Yes! Word of Life allows visitors after stopping at the check in booth at their properties. You will receive a visitor pass and will need to stop at the camp office.
